new skills

So Last night I decided to do some knitting and made little baby Lucy and pretty pink flower headband.  when I was making it Travis decided that he wanted to learn how to knit.  So I am in the process of teaching the seven year how to knit.  He is trying really hard to learn it.  He really is a smart little boy.  Maria also is trying her best to knit.  She has it except she has the problem that a lot of new knitters have as it gets longer it gets wider.   Now to teach Miriam how to knit.

Traveling

So Maria and I are at the airport all we want is to get something to drink.  so we go into this cafe place and we are standing there reading the menu and figuring out what we want. Once we decided and  the lady asked us if it was here or go, we go to order.  The lady would not take our order from where we were standing because it was to go and we needed to be by the register.  so we walked the two feet out of the place around the rope and up to the register to order.  I found it funny that we were the only people in there ordering two soda pops and she wouldn't take our orders until we were by the register.  I would not be happy if my employees treated our customers like that.

We were not assigned seats when we checked in and when we went up to the desk to get em the lady there told us no we couldn't sit next to each other and then wouldn't help us out.   when they started boarding we went up and asked for seats and she tells us you have been sitting there a while.  Yes we were and when we asked for seats you told us no and would not help us.   This same lady also called zone 4 to board the plane and then freaked out when zone 4 was boarding the plane and not zone 3.  I can't believe how rude the people are at the atlanta airport.  grr

anyways being in Italy is awesome.  the kids are great. Baby Lucy sure  likes to make her noises,  Travis loves to play.   and then there are always pictures that are taken when you visit people.

Thanksgiving

So my Thanksgiving break was awesome.  Work went very smoothly on Wednesday so we were able to get out by 2.  Budget didn't give me any problems when I went to pick up the rental car.  We ate a late lunch with Derk and then Zach and I were on the road to Tucson.  We arrived at his parent's house around 9pm, they were very nice and waited up for us to get there. After meeting them we headed over to see our pal Joe,  who we hadn't saw in while.   On Thanksgiving itself I woke up well before Zachie boy,  but it was fine I just knitted a scarf out in the sun shine watching the Guinea pigs play outside.  He got up and his sisters came over and we all hung out and ate a good meal.  On Friday morning they all got up and went to hike somewhere, where I met my friend Good Friend Patrice for some coffee.  Then Patrice and I went to her brothers packed a lunch and then we went Hiking in the Catalina State Park.  It was a very good time I miss my adventures with Patrice that we used to have back in the days of her living up here.  That evening I drove to meet the Casavants in Benson for a good Cheeseburger.  Then we went Kartchner caverns and camp in an RV.  Saturday morning was spent touring the cave which was pretty sweet.  This cave is very well preserved as far as the bigger touring caves I have been in.   After the tour and some lunch we drove down to Bisbee.  Bisbee is an old mining town on the Mexico Boarder.  We left Zach's parents at the hotel and went to check the town out.  Very pretty old town, reminds me of a bigger version of Jerome.   We were all excited about eating dinner in this one really good Mexican restaurant, however they were to busy and could seat the size of our groups. So we ended up eating some good pizza.  Then we all ended up at this one little bar, playing pool, shuffle board and singing some Karaoke.   Zach and I ended up going on an adventure so he could find some cheese.  We ended up taking stairs to the top of a hill, the sky was Beautiful.  We finally did find a gas station and created a line of customers for the cashier who spazed on my ID.  ( got  a new one today and i look like a ghost).  Though I told him its cool we just won't get the beer but he spazed anyways.  Sunday morning we went on a Tour of the old Queen mine.  It was pretty fun to ride on the little train that went down into the mine.  After wards we took a drive through some pretty country back to Tucson.  Then we loaded up the guinea pigs and headed to Phoenix where we stopped in Tempe to get dinner with Chris.  Then on wards to the snow storm in Flagstaff or so we were told it would be storming.  But when we arrived the storm was over, roads were covered in snow and ice but we were fine.   Due to the trip to Tucson, my guinea pig now lives with me cause he couldn't not fight with Marbles in the car.   And Zach went to Cali to see Sarah and we had to take her guinea pigs with him.   But it's cool I like having him here with me.  However next week I head to Cali for work so he will going back to Zach's with the others.  Now I wait for Italy!!!!

Looking Forward

This weekend has gotten me in the mood for up coming trips.  On Wednesday I am heading to Tucson for a few days.  I will be eating Thanksgiving dinner with my friend Zach's family.  On Friday the plan is go hiking with Patrice, which is she is the reason I am going to Tucson in the first place.  Then I on Saturday Zach's dad is getting us into Kartchern caverns. I am excited about this a lot.  I love caves and going on cave tours. Zach's dad is also a Geologist.  We head back up to Flagstaff on Sunday, and in any case I won't have to be back at work until Tuesday.  So I will have Monday to do whatever,  which Mondays I tend to not do much at all.  I watch America's Next Top Model marathons and hopefully get coffee/slash daily dose of Food with Laura and then walk her doggies.  This tiny vacation is well needed after the past few weeks I have had at work.

December 23 till Jan 10 is my big trip to Italy.  I am looking forward to this a lot.  I will be going with Maria, so that's a plus I like to share adventures with people and who better to share this one with.  Also I can not wait to meet the little baby Lu and see how big Travis has gotten over the past few years.  And it will be great to spend time with Guy and Miriam.  Another plus is I haven't been around any family for the past two Christmases, should be good times.  The first year not being anywhere for Christmas was harder than what I expected it to be.  Last year wasn't bad because I spent the day over at my friends Regina and Sylus's along with two of their friends plus Laura and Jeff where there.  any whoot I better get off of here and to bed.

restricted numbers

Yesterday afternoon I started to get restricted phone calls.  I thought it a bit strange, that when I answered the person hung up on me right away.  Last night I get a text message from some random number asking me who I was, is this Lisa. I replied by asking who are you and who's Lisa, and why are you texting me. Then they ask me what's up it's Big Boy.  My reply who's Big Boy.  No more texts for the rest of the night.  Today I get a call from a restricted number I answer they tell their name is Melissa and they ask me why I am calling them.  First off I haven't called you, you are the one calling me so leave me a lone.   About ten minutes later I get I call can from a restricted number I answer and say stop calling me.  They say hi is this Zita?  I say yes and didn't you just call me?  Reply is no this is the first time I have called you,  how do you know Justin, Tall boy, Big Boy. My reply I don't know him.  Why is their a phone call from this number at 7:30am.  My reply I don't know any Justin and this is my work phone so any calls to or from this number are work related.  The lady replies so which company where do you work.  I work for Sodexo now please stop calling me.  After the conversation I look through my call log I have no calls at 7:30am this whole week going in or out. And before yesterday I had never received any phone calls or text from the person texting me.

doctors

So I have this growth on my foot for just over a year now.  When I wear shoes and walk around it hurts, this is new.  But the growth doesn't hurt its the area around it.  The growth has tripled in size since I first discovered it.  This morning I went to see the doctor about it. At first the lady told me I didn't have insurance which is false and then they found my policy.  Then I waited to get my signs checked, then I waited before I saw the actual doctor.  In which I talked to him a total of ten minutes and he decides that an X-ray needs to be took before he can say and do anything for sure. All of this I new would happen which is why I didn't want to go for so long.  Then at the x-ray room the man taking my x-rays didn't know what he was dong so finally the lady teaching him took the x-ray that would work.  I believe they now have 10 x-rays of my foot.  Lets hope with that many they can figure out what it is and what they can do to remove it.

Sundays

Sundays have recently became my favorite day of the week.  I wake up and head to Church.  I enjoy going to church, its a place of comfort for me. I grew up in the church and its a safe environment where people are always welcoming and pleasant.  For about a month now I have a few friends going to church with me so that makes things very nice. After church we head one of the local diners and get some breakfast/lunch depending on where we go.  It's a very good time to catch up on the weeks events.  Some days we head out to watch the football games or sometime we spilt ways and each get work done or some of us go shopping.  Yesterday was a shopping day with Sarah.  I found a few cute new dresses for the winter months.  I also was able to find a pair of boots that I had been on the look out for I actually ended up coming home with two pairs of boots. They were on sell so why not.  Yup I am a fan of shopping I may have spent more money than I should have but I got good deals so I am ok with it.

long weeks

This past week was so long.  I spent my two days sick.  And I probably shouldn't have worked the week as sick as I was.  But I still ended up going out to Ladies eighties on Wednesday in which some bad choices were probably made.  And Thursday it was all me at work no other managers seemed to be around and that my day at work pretty crappy.  Friday was spent dealing with business and making sure my people got paid. And I did go out that night but made good choices and went home pretty early.  Saturday at work was fun times everyone should up and people did their work.  That night I headed out on the town to celebrate Halloween. In which case my costume must have been the costumes I have ever worn.  And this is how I found it.
The first weekend in October we went to savers one sunday after noon and I found a red dress.  I looked at the girls and said "If it fits I am going to dress as Jessica Rabbit for Halloween" It fitted and I had a Halloween costume.  My friend Kelly is an artist and did a very fine job on my make up.  Now to think of even better one for next year.

Arizona

I decided my in High School I was going to study Geology.  When it came time to pick a school I chose NAU.   So I moved to Flagstaff, Arizona to attend NAU and get a degree in geology.  In four and half years I got my degree.  I also decided not to use it and work in the food service but its all good and dandy.  I love living in Flagstaff and Arizona is a great state to live in, if you like the outdoors.

I only live an hour and half from the grand canyon. So I try to at least get up to the canyon once a year.
Sedona is only twenty minutes away and it is very beautiful with the red sandstones.  I like to get down there to hike as much as possible.  Last year I was introduced to Fossil Creek which is about an hour away.  The creek flows at 70 degrees all year unless there is snow melt, the area is also so green and pretty, with water falls and a whirl pool, somewhere hot springs are also in play.  Tucson is in the southern part of the sate and I have been there a few times and do enjoy that city. I am hoping that I get down there for Thanksgiving this year.  Flagstaff itself is awesome we have the peaks and get four seasons.  Here are some pictures from the beautiful state I live in.

Days off

Sundays and Mondays are my days off and I like to keep them as full as possible.  Last week I spent my Sunday eating lunch with friends, coffee with Sarah, climbing/running with Laura, dinner with the roommates, Ke$ha concert and Karaoke.  My Monday was spent with the roommates hiking and then some Karaoke with Laura. Which it was a very busy weekend.  This week I only got today off and have to work tomorrow.  But today was a good day.  I woke up in Theresa's bed with Kelly and her.  I walked home and ended up going to lunch with Krystal.  During lunch we decided we should go and see all the pretty trees at snowbowl.  So after lunch we drive up to snowbowl found some coats in her car and decide to ride the ski lift up to the top.  It was my first time riding the sky lift it was a kinda scary but not to bad.   The weather changed on the way up and we ended up getting rained/ hailed and snowed on.  But it was still lots of fun and at the top the man yelled at us because we didn't hear the answer to our question.

here are the pictures of my afternoon.

Fall

The fall is my favorite season of all.  In New York the leaves on the maples changed colors and this made for some of the best views of all times. When I was little we would always rake the leaves into huge piles and jump in it them.  It was so much fun.  Here in Flagstaff we have Aspens that change into a really pretty yellow and we go up the mountain and hike around in the beauty of nature.  It's been a couple of years since I have made it up there and right now they are just changing so maybe I will get a chance this weekend to get up there and hike.

I also love fall because it is the season when pumpkin flavored everything is the stores.  At work all the units have something pumpkin flavored and it makes my day.  I love the pumpkin cream cheese muffins the best.

Communication is the key

People have the tendency to get mad at you and not tell you.  How does that solve the problem? Answer it doesn't solve anything.  So talk to the people you are mad at and see if the issues can be fixed.  Not hard.  Also when someone is talking to you don't walk away in the middle of it for no reason.  Grr people make me mad sometimes!

Cinnabon

My friends Zach and Sarah have Guinea pigs and the first thing I do when I go to their house is play with the little guys.  Sarah moved last Dec. to  California and took the pigs with her.  Leaving me with none to play with when I went over to Zach's.

Sarah came for a visit over labor day weekend, which is one the county fair is.  Zach had to work so her and I went to the fair.  The Coconino county fair has got to be the smallest fair I have ever attended.  There is not evening  a dairy cattle exhibit.  But they do have a lovely rabbit and cavy exhibit.  When we got to the fair we started walking around to all the barns to check out the animal displays.  We came across the guinea pigs and lots of them were for sale.  Sarah and I looked at them for the longest time and then we asked the people selling them if we could hold them. Sarah started playing with a little cute baby one and she decided right there to buy him.  But we weren't able to take him with us to walk around the rest of the fair with him, so we would have to go back later to get him.  As we finished walking around the fair I kept thinking about buying myself one of the other little guys they had for sale.  And after we checked out all the displays we wanted too and ate all the fried food we went to pick up Sarah's newest little friend. As we did I bought my little guy.  As the young girl handed me the pig she told me his name is Cinnabon. I fell for the little guy he has a wire hair coat.  We made one stop at the store to buy our new little babies treats. And then we went to Zach's to set up there home.  I am not allowed to have pets at my apartment my roommates  got caught with nasty Ferrets so they check on us to make sure we don't have anything else. But Zach loves em so its all good that he is willing to my little guy for awhile.

The top picture is of Cinnabon, we all call him Cinny.

The picture to the left is of Pucker and Marbles.
Pucker is five years old, and didn't complain to much when two little guys moved in with him.

latest of the Zee's Headbands

My evening was spent watching the football game and knitting. I knitted two complete headbands.  The first one was a simple knit pearl of blue and white yarn together, it didn't take long and a girl from work requested a blue and white headband.  So if she likes it she may have it.  Some of the girls on campus have been wearing really cute ones that are bigger with a flower on em.  I really liked them so I decided to see if I could knit my own, and boom here it is.  I think it came out very nice, its different than the ones I have seen but I still love it.  I am excited to wear it tomorrow.  My friend is the president of the NAU art club and told me that if I created some pieces she would sell them at the art club booth on the first friday art walk.  I am pretty sure I won't be selling anything this coming month but maybe by Nov. I will have some things done that I am willing to sell.

running

My good friend Laura has recently got me running.  It is good for me.  I do enjoy our runs as they will help me get into shape and lose some of my summer 15.  Yeah that's right summer 15 I tend to gain weight during the summer and lose it in the fall and winter.  Anyways we run on the trails in Flagstaff either in the mornings before I go to work or on Monday evenings.  These runs are good so you can be out enjoying the prettiness of Flag, and we also get a chance to talk about life and hang out.  Yesterday morning I had to run a lone for Laura is out of town.  I figured I should still go out and run so I don't fall behind again and have to start all over again.  So I start my running from my apartment to the path.  I run down to the path and within the first five feet I come across a huge mud puddle. I forgot it had rained like an hour earlier.  But I am not gonna turn around and call it quits I keep going.  As I am going through the tunnel to meet the other  trial, the water that is only flowing down the side is now flowing the whole width of the tunnel so my feet are no longer dry and it's almost a pond at the end of the tunnel so I had to figure out how to get around it.  Once I get on the trial again and start running I would hit mud patches and slide around and my shoes were getting heavier because of all the mud the had picked up.  I am thinking to myself why am I even trying to stay running I should just walk and not hurt myself. But nope I keep running I don't have enough time to walk.  I also realize that Laura does a better job at pacing the runs than I do, however stopping and walking is not an option must keep running, must keeping hopping puddles and dodging slippery mud patches.  I did survive the obstacle course and it was probably a better work out than our normal runs would have been.  Today I failed at going out and running for one it rained through out the day and night so I am good at not having to jump puddles again.  And I also figured I danced the night away last night so I should be fine if I skip one day.

newest of the zeehats

When I was seven my mom tired to teach me how to knit.  I failed at it. The scarf I was trying to make got wider as it got longer.  At that time I decided that knitting was not for me.  It was not until I was in college that for what ever reason I decided to try and knit again.  By no means am I good at knitting, I don't even know how to read a pattern. But knitting does take up some of my spare time and it keeps my hands busy while watching TV or movies.

My past two summer were spent working at a camp in Alaska.  The first summer I made all the female staff along with a few male staff each their own headbands.  I also taught a few others how to knit and some had the same problem I did when I was seven.  This past summer the first wal-mart trip brought me bright pink and green yarn, in which case by the end of the first session all the staff had headbands made from this pink and green.  It made me feel good to see them all wear them throughout the summer.  I was also able to make a few hats this summer.  Two of which went to Italy for my sister in law and niece,  a few others were left with friends to keep their heads warm this winter.
The hat that I made today has not been knitted but it was crocheted.  My twin sister came home college able to crocheted.  She taught me how and well lets face it, I was not a huge fan of crochet.  It's easier and takes up way less time then knitting, but I kinda just like how knits look compared to crochets.  My lovely kitchen assistant this summer crocheted and see made some of best looking crocheted hats I had ever seen.  As she taught everyone how to crochet I taught them all how to knit. But she was not the one that taught me how to crochet and the ones she taught would ask me questions on how to fix their projects.  I would help them out but sorta laugh at the same time because I'd never made anything by crocheting.  I knew how to do it because of my sister and mom.  So today I decided it was time to start being crafty again and I made the hat posted above.  I need to actually see if I was capable at crocheting a project from start to finish.  I succeed, its the most beautiful piece of work but it's not bad for my first crocheted hat.

New

I am new, we shall see how it goes.  My sister has a place on here which has inspired me to do the same.  She shares her latest on life so I feel I can do the same.  I am not nearly as creative as her and I am also not much of a writer. I have issues with words, you know spelling and grammar are not my thing.  I am more of math and science nerd.  Give me a puzzle and I do anything to solve it.

To get started and so you may know a little about me. I grew up in New York state, have say state because I for sure was not born or ever lived in New York city and lets face it when someone says New York the world things of the city.  I moved to Wisconsin during my childhood and lived there until I left and went to college in Flagstaff, Arizona.  I love it here.  I have a degree in Geology and never really plan to use it besides for my own simple happiness.  I am a food service manager and its a great time.  It feeds me so I save a bundle on not buying food that often.

I spend my summers working at children sleep away camps.  Which are the best times in my life.  You could complain about being paid to camp, hike, swim, boat and do all sorts of crafty things.  I think this is good for now.
